Historical, Cultural Experiences & Spiritual Significance of Chulungkha

Chulungkha shares historical roots with the neighboring Balti villages of Turtuk and Bogdang, having been a part of the ancient Yabgo Dynasty’s territory.
The village was integrated into India after the 1971 Indo-Pak war, prior to which it was under Pakistani control.
The Balti population here has preserved its unique culture, language (Balti), and customs, distinct from the Tibetan Buddhist influences in central Ladakh.
Despite its isolation, Chulungkha maintains strong oral traditions, ancient agricultural techniques, and a peaceful, communal way of life that reflects centuries of resilience.
