About this Experience

Step into an evening of vibrant rhythm and living culture. This experience invites you to witness and participate in the traditional music and dance forms of Ladakh—an art that has been passed down through generations. Join local performers in a joyful gathering filled with storytelling, drumming, and movement that connects you to the soul of the mountains. It’s not just a show—it’s a celebration of Ladakhi spirit.

Location & Community

Village: Sakti
Hosted by a local cultural troupe and women artists from the village of Sakti, this experience brings together youth and elders to keep their musical traditions alive. Sakti, nestled near the famous Takthok Monastery, offers a rich setting for immersive cultural experiences, away from the bustle of tourist hubs.

Cultural Relevance

Ladakhi folk songs are often sung during harvests, weddings, and festivals, reflecting stories of nature, spirituality, and daily life. Dances like Shondol (a royal dance once performed for the king), Jabro (popular among nomadic communities), and Kompa Taktak (a rhythmic group dance) form an essential part of Ladakh’s intangible heritage. Participants also learn about traditional instruments like the daman (drum) and surna (flute).

This gathering is a way for you to connect with Ladakh’s oral traditions, preserved through music, gesture, and storytelling.
